About Me

Nicole Bross, a woman with long, light-coloured hair working as an ADHD book coach smiles down at an Apple laptop.

I’m Nicole Bross, certified book coach and editor, and the author of both adult and YA genre-blending speculative fiction. I live with my husband, two teenagers and two cats/reading companions, Edgar Allan Purr and Mewey Decimal System, in Calgary, Canada.

I work from a small shed-turned-office in my backyard, full of vintage books and bottles, typewriters and snarky artwork, and it’s probably my favourite place in the world.

An Approach Informed By Personal Experience

Nicole Bross, a woman with long, light-colored hair who works as a book coach for fiction writers with ADHD, stands outside with a vineyard behind her, smiling into the distance.

I was diagnosed with ADHD in 2018, and not to sound too cliched, but finding out was like the proverbial lightbulb moment. All the things I’d always hated myself for—the disorganization, the paralysis when faced with complex tasks, the constant (CONSTANT!) daydreaming that kept me from focusing on anything even remotely tedious—they all had an explanation. That was when I decided I was going to stop beating myself up for something that wasn’t even my fault to begin with, and start figuring out not only how my brain works, but how to turn those perceived flaws into assets I could use to my advantage. Today, I’m proudly neurodiverse and an advocate for mental health awareness, and I believe that these attributes are not barriers to creativity, but gifts you can harness to your advantage. If you have ADHD too and are looking for additional support with your writing, I know I can help. As an ADHD writing coach, my approach is collaborative and tailored to your individual needs. Of course, I’m delighted to work with you no matter what kind of brain you have, and I’m so excited to help unlock your imagination so you can thrive as a storyteller.

Skills and Certifications

Author Accelerator Certified Book Coach badge

Having worked as an editor for many years, book coaching appeals to me as a way to help even more writers with their stories. Whether it’s working together to flesh out a kernel of an idea or dig deep into a revision, seeing a story bloom and evolve is immensely satisfying for me. It’s so rewarding to help a writer refine their narrative voice and watch their confidence grow alongside their manuscript! I love working with first-time writers, people who want to write a book but don’t know how, and people who can always start writing a book but never seem to finish them. I’m also interested in #ownvoices stories of all types. Most of all, I love story itself, and I can’t wait to hear more about yours!
